I am currently planning my own wedding.. my budget tip is to save money by using the skills of friends and family who have a talent in something that can be of use to you for your wedding. For example, if you have a friend that is into photography ask him to take your wedding photos as this will save a lot of money. Or if your mum/mother in law is a great cake baker ask if she would be willing to bake your wedding cake. already follwing your blog.

Another tip i have is this: i have found that wedding stationary can add a lot to the cost of a wedding, and you can save money by doing it yourself. If you enjoy being creative and have enough time you can create your invites and table place cards with some ribbon and anything else that you fancy, such as buttons, photos etc. xx
ReplyDeleteIf you and your partner are happy to get married on a very low budget, don't listen to any nasty comments! It is your s and your partners day, nobody elses xx

We had a seated finger buffet instead of a formal sit down meal. Had far too many people (256 for sit down!) So had the caterers serve large platters of 'party's food to the tables. This went down really well with our guests as everyone was catered for in dietary needs etc.. who doesn't like sandwiches and cake?
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion would be to have an afternoon ceremony. That way you can go on to your reception venue, have photos and drinks and then go straight into an evening do and buffet. You'd be cutting the cost of a sit down meal (and only paying for people to eat once!) and would have plenty of time in the morning to be pampered without rushing - our wedding was an early one and of course there were so many hiccups, I'd have loved to have longer to relax and enjoy getting my hair and make up done, photos etc
ReplyDeleteI'd also call in the help of friends with skills and talents. They could make your invitations, cake, favours, bouquet as your wedding gift. You already have your home set up and as nice as pressies are you could massivly cut your wedding costs this way :)
Good luck! I'm sure your wedding will be fantastic!

my best wedding on a budget tip, is something we did ourselfs at our wedding, we had a buffet and made all the food ourselfs and we also got one of our local pubs to sell the drinks so that didnt cost us anything, we also brought our wedding cake from tescos as they had there very own range of wedding cakes
